Specify the jersey and shorts together
Record the preferred neck shape, armhole cut, jersey length and shorts inseam. If players intend to wear an undershirt, mention it when discussing fit. List youth and adult requirements separately rather than assuming one size range covers the whole team.
For home and away looks, identify each colour scheme clearly. If you want a reversible garment, ask whether that construction is available and how it affects fit, artwork and the quoted specification.
Confirm numbers and colour contrast
Build a roster with one row per player and columns for size, number and name spelling. Check the list with the coach before sending it for artwork preparation.
Review front and back number positions against your competition's requirements. A design can look appealing on screen while needing changes to meet a league's rules, so confirm those rules before approving the mockup.
Compare fabrics using a sample
Ask for composition, construction and weight rather than choosing by a photograph alone. Discuss how the material will feel against the skin and whether the finished garment becomes too transparent under the conditions in which it will be worn.
If possible, compare a sample while moving through typical basketball actions. Record any fit changes before finalising the size allocation for the rest of the squad.
Include replacements in the first conversation
Ask about minimum quantities for later additions, artwork retention and the likelihood of matching colours between batches. Keep a copy of the approved specifications and roster so future enquiries start from the same reference.
Do not assume an enquiry confirms availability or reserves a production slot. Request a written quote covering the agreed pieces, quantity, destination and timing.
